Sunday, December 9, 2018 starting at 2 pm it’s “A Celtic American Christmas” from the Center for Irish Studies at University of St. Thomas.  Award-winning musician, vocalist, writer, and dancer, Aubrey Atwater presents a concert of traditional folk music, dance, and narration. She sings, dances and plays mountain dulcimer, old-time banjo, guitar and Irish whistle. “A Celtic American Christmas” will feature winter songs including Scots-Irish songs from eastern Kentucky. Sunday December 9 from 3-6pm it’s Blaggards doing a special show at The Continental Club.  This is a fundraiser for ROCK THE SHELTER & MISSION benefit supporting Houston’s Salvation Army Residence and the Open Door Mission. In Britain and Ireland, the day after Christmas is a time to share gifts with companions and neighbors… to sing a song or two and maybe raise a glass with old friends. All 3 bands will be singing songs that are part of this very old tradition in a comfy setting. Constant Billy goes on 1st, followed by Celia & Ella and then Wylde Meade. Friday-Sunday, December 21-23, 2018 Revels Houston presents “KEEP MAGICK,” A 17th Century Celebration of the Winter Solstice. The venue will be The MATCH (Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston) 3400 Main St, Houston Texas.  Join us for our 27th Christmas Revels production and a fun-filled show- a tale that features a modern American teen who has a hilarious encounter with prisoners in the Tower of London in the 17th century.  You will be led on this magical journey by an outstanding cast, chorus and instrumental ensemble.  We will sing, dance, tell stories (and Ghost Stories at that!) and once again celebrate the Yule, the changing of the seasons, and the return of the light!  Seating in the theater is limited this year, so be sure to get your tickets early!
